How to Embroider Amigurumi Mouth

by Okey Dokeys 19 Dec 2024 0 Comments

Whether you’re giving your amigurumi a sweet smile or a pair of sleepy eyes, embroidering a curve is a fantastic way to add even more personality to your crochet creations. At Okey Dokeys, we believe in those tiny, thoughtful details that bring your projects to life. Let’s learn how to embroider a simple curve that can make your amigurumi smile—or snooze—in no time!

Step by Step How to Embroider an Amigurumi Curved Mouth

  • Step 1: Choose and Prepare Your Thread
Pick a thread color that suits your design—black or dark brown for smiles, or soft colors like light grey for sleepy eyes. Thread your needle with embroidery floss or thin yarn, using a yarn needle small enough to pass through your crochet stitches.

  • Step 2: Mark Your Curve  Before embroidering, use a fabric marker or small pins to mark where the curve will go. This helps guide you as you work, ensuring the curve comes out even and in the right spot. For smiles, place it just below the eyes; for sleepy eyes, position it above the eyes.

  • Step 3: Embroider the Curve
Bring the needle up from inside the crochet piece to the starting point of your curve. Make small, even stitches along the marked line, shaping the thread into a gentle upward curve for a smile or a downward curve for sleepy eyes to mimic closed eyelids.

  • Step 4: Secure and Hide the Thread
After completing the curve, bring the needle back inside the amigurumi and weave the thread through the interior to secure it. Trim any excess thread inside to finish neatly.

Okey Dokeys Tip: Keep it Symmetrical

When embroidering curves for facial features, symmetry is key! If you’re adding two sleepy eyes or a smile, check to ensure both sides match up before you finish. Little tricks like this make all the difference in creating a polished look.

Adding a curve to your amigurumi is a fun way to bring your crochet projects to life. Whether it's a smile or sleepy eyes, Okey Dokeys is all about making crafting easy and enjoyable. Try embroidering curves on your next project to give your amigurumi some extra personality!
