How to Close off Amigurumi
- Step 1: Cut the Yarn and Pull Through: Leave a tail that’s around 6-8 inches long and cut the working yarn from the skein. With your crochet hook, pull the yarn tail through the final loop on your hook to fasten it off. This will create a secure knot that keeps your stitches from unraveling.
- Step 2: Thread the Yarn Tail Weave Through the Stitches: Using a yarn needle, thread the yarn tail through the needle’s eye. If your yarn is thick, you can fold it in half to make threading easier. Insert the needle through the remaining stitches of your amigurumi, weaving the yarn in and out to close the small opening at the end. Make sure to pull gently to avoid gaps or bulges.Â
- Step 3. Secure and Hide the Tail After weaving through the stitches, pull the yarn tail tightly to close up the hole. Weave the remaining yarn through the body of your amigurumi a few more times to secure it, then cut the excess yarn.
Okey Dokeys Tip: Invisible Finishing!Â
For an invisible finish, you can thread the yarn tail through the body of your amigurumi, then pull it through and cut it off close to the surface. The end of the yarn will disappear into the stuffing, leaving no trace!Â
At Okey Dokeys, we believe that finishing your amigurumi cleanly makes all the difference in your final result. Mastering this simple but essential technique will keep your projects looking smooth and professional every time!
